ITA (Pòffo) – Deriva dal termine tedesco Hof "maso", al plurale Hofen, con la preposizione da tradotta con ab, da cui Abhofen, poi Poffen e Poffo. Il significato sarebbe dunque "Dai Masi". Il cognome, originario della zona di Roncegno, è diffuso (ma non comunissimo) nella Valsugana. È raro nel resto del Trentino ed è praticamente assente nel resto d'Italia. A Levico Terme (frazione Quaere) c'è il Masso Poffo.

ESP - Deriva del término alemán Hof (macizo o grupo de montañas), que en plural se escribe Hofen y con la preposición de (ab) se lee Abhofen, de allí se deriva Poffen y luego Poffo. El significado sería entonces "del macizo". El apellido, originario de la zona de Roncegno, se encuentra difundido (pero no es muy común) en la Valsugana. Es raro en el resto del Trentino y prácticamente ausente en el resto de Italia. En Levico Terme (frazione Quaere) están los restos de la casa donde vivían hace siglos los Poffo

POR - O sobrenome Poffo deriva-se do termo alemão Hof (maciço), em plural Hofen, com a preposição de (ab) Abhofen, de onde Poffen y depois Poffo. O significado sería então "do maciso". O sobrenome é originário de Roncegno. Existe (mais não e muito comum) na Valsugana. Não é muito conhecido no resto do Trentino e praticamente não existe em outras regiões da Italia. A Levico Terme (frazione Quaere) existem as ruínas da casa original onde a família Poffo vivia, há séculos atrás

ENG - the Family Name Poffo derives from the german word Hof, which means massif or group of mountains. The meaning is, therefore, "from the massif". This family name originates from Roncegno region. It is found (but it's not at all common) in the Valsugana region. It is rare in the rest of the Trentino and almost unknown of in the rest of Italy. In Levico Terme (frazione Quaere) there are the remains of the original house where the Poffo family lived, centuries ago.

DEU - Die Name Poffo leitet vom deutschen Wort Abhofen, denn Poffen und danach Poffo. Dieser Familienname entsteht von der Roncegno Region. Es wird (aber es ist überhaupt nicht Common), in der Valsugana gefunden. Es ist selten im Rest des Trentino und in vom Rest von Italien fast unbekannt. Im Levico Terme (frazione Quaere) befinden sich die Überreste des ursprünglichen Hauses, wo die Familie wohnte, die vor Jahrhunderten.
